The Szean baby's sleeping bag is one of the oldest places in Israel. The first mentions of it come from XV in p.n.e, when this city was an important centre of the Egyptian civil service in north Kanaanie. In a photo model with reconstruction of the city from the period of the greatest magnificence. The Bible also recalls about his existing in 1 Royal Book, when he is describing, that a body of the Israeli king of Saul was hung on walls of this Canaanite city after the unsuccessful battle against Phillistines. The city was captured by Jews only too of times of conquests of Dawid's king. Fall of Szean Betas, and it for a lot of years, was caused during Tiglatpilesara conquered by the Assyrian master in 732 of p.n.e year. New creating the settlement (under the name Scythopolis) took place in the second half the IV p.n.e age., in times of Alexander the Great. The city spent the biggest years of its magnificence in II in. and in next centuries. In his vicinity then the VI Roman legion was stationed. Scytopolis was one of textile centres of the Roman empire. In the VI century the city achieved its maximum size, achieving number 40 tys. of inhabitants. View on the hill towering to the Shean baby's sleeping bag. There the oldest tracks of the settlement were found. There are fragments of the building and temples here from Egyptian and Israeli times. For the Hellenist period on his peak till Byzantine times a Zeusa temple rose, later a church stopped in this place. In harmony with old fairy tales or legends, where a rainbow is ending one should search for buried treasure. Is this hill hiding undiscovered secrets still in itself?
The city is famous for remains from the Roman-Byzantine period. In 634 Arabic Umar caliph the al-Chattab ibn captured the city and he changed his name of Beisan. Since then the city was slowly on the decline. Szwajcarsko-niemiecki traveller Johann Lewis Burkhart described Beisan in 1812 as the village placed from 70 to 80 houses Beneath these small roofs West Baths completely quite well kept are situated. These pillars sticking out of the earth, these are fragments of the system of the central heating - hypokaustum. Beneath the floor a stove who warmed air was placed in the central room. The ones next filled the space up between supports. Quite inventive underfloor heatings. Walls of the bath and floors were inlaid with marble plates and decorated with mosaics. Real leisure centre. And these are a few accessories for keeping the personal hygiene. For me scrapers appeal.
Main city streets - cardo - there is a Palladiusa street. Surrounded with colonnade, she is trailing from the theatre all the way to bases of the hill. In the middle inlaid with basaltic plates, there were pavements all over sides. Low relief with the lion dormant. Proudly rising units by the Palladiusa street. At one time this place pulsated with life. Move, hubbub, merchants businesses - today only stayed all over it hazy ideas. The time is being not-beged. What will stay after us too 2 - 3 thousand years? Remains of beautiful mosaics. Fragment of the floor decorated with mosaic from one of surrounding houses cardo.
And these are remains of other homestead. Mosaic introducing the Tyche goddess with the horn of plenty. Unfortunately it is reconstruction, because the original most ordinarily was stolen. For old buildings earthquakes are most inexorable. A lot of wonderful finished the building this way one's life. Nice decorated elements nimfeum. Arched gate.
On the area of Szean Betas in still an excavation work lasts. It is still sizeable area who stayed for examining. Fragments of the eastern Bath. In the Roman culture, urban latrines constituted the important place of the social life. They were separate for men and for women. Usually nice decorated and supplied with the plumbing. This way they could long for the latrine ages ago. Probably a monumental theatre is the most wonderful monument of Szean Betas. Built in and into both rebuilt and modernised at the end n.e 2 n.e centuries.
The scene of the theatre has the diameter of 110 m. and was high 20 m. The audience of this theatre could hold 7 tys. of persons. Today these are picturesque ruins. This time a nature played the wonderful performance. Picture with reconstruction of the theatre. On that pleasant note we are saying this historical place goodbye to. It is worthwhile here looking in order to rub against millennia of history. I know that he can for some these are only stones left about. But if exert $oneself$ a little bit you it is possible to the truth a lot to see imagination.
