Dubrovnik, was established 1300 years ago by Greek fugitives from the Epidaurus island. In the Middle Ages he played the big role in the sea trade, competing with very Venice. He had the status of a city-state, similarly to Polish Gdańsk. The city remained the independent republic of merchants and yachtsmen, all the way to the invasion of Napoleon in 1806 r. Similarly to Venice, Dubrownik lives mainly from the tourism. Stari Hail, the superbly kept old town, is unique on account of squares inlaid with marble, steep, paveed small streets, high houses, monasteries, churches, palaces, fountains and museums. All buildings were built around the same, of bright stone. Superbly urban walls kept in one piece are separating the city from the road traffic in the bay. Geographical situation of a southern town, between the Split and Albania causes that there are a pleasant climate and a rich flora there.
The city is seen on the list of the World Legacy UNESCO, on account of one's wonderful architecture and monuments.
